Sleeping through rainbow relaxation

Postby babywong'smum » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:46 am

Hi,

Does the rainbow relaxation still work as preparation even though I've never consciously heard it? I understand about the whole concious mind switching off during hypnosis and it not actually being sleep thing, but I fall asleep during the affirmations (which are not actually hypnosis if I am correct?) and before it gets to the rainbow relaxation. Is this still ok? :D

Thanks,
Cat

Falling Asleep

Postby sarah2237 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:11 am

I fall asleep too, for all of them. I'll let you know how my birth goes with it, should be anytime now. :-)

You are probably still getting most of the messages, but if you want to get the maximum benefit, try listening at another time of day, perhaps when you are even having a relaxing walk, or sitting on a bench at the mall. That will ensure that you have "heard" the messages a couple of times and your subconscious mind will rememeber when you listen again while you sleep.

I am not a hypntherapist, but this makes sense to me. Perhaps one of our hypnotherapist practitioners will weigh in.

P.S. Did the instructors in your area get in touch with you?

Thanks Kathie. I felt like I really should hear it a few times while awake so I will try maybe sitting in a hard chair to keep me awake.
I'm still waiting to hear from the instructors.

It will still work

Postby shelleymartlew » Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:20 am

Hi there
I am33 wks and just completed the wonderful course. I had the same problem of falling asleep but was assured that you will still hear it subconsciously and it will work.
I am going to video my birth and put it on you tube with all my video diaries i have been putting on there. I have loved watching other videos of hypnobirthing, I cant wait for the big day!

If you are falling asleep its working!! You're relaxed and that is the main idea behind the cd. I fell asleep every single time with out fail to that cd while I was pregnant. It even put my two yeard to sleep!! In fact, I still have not heard it in its entirity! During my labor, I only wanted to listen to the Rainbow Relaxation for that specific reason. It played on repeat, and even then, I don't think I heard any of it. My body was trained to sleep each time I heard it and as a result, I was ubber relaxed the during my labor. So relaxed, my husband, sister and doula all thought I was sleep...so you know what they did...they fell asleep!!

Don't worry or put to much thought into the process. Put time into it, but don't over think it. Whats most important is that you are able to be deeply relaxed and that you can recreate that relaxation on your birthing day.

Hope this helps :D

My Experience with hypnobirthing

Postby shelleymartlew » Mon Apr 19, 2010 3:14 pm

I thought I would come back and give an update as to how hypnobirthing worked for me.
I gave birth to our little boy, Ledger, on 29/3/10. It was a beautiful short 2 hr labor, and I only woke up from my sleep with light contractions less than 4 hrs before he was born! Although it was such a short labor and therefore less time to really get in that 'space' i found it to be VERY beneficial.

Compared to my first birth I can honestly say I felt very in control, the pain was very tolerable, I never felt like I could not do it or needed drugs and as long as my husband kept on giving me the ques and reminding me to use the breathing I was really enjoying the labor. Looking back on the video of the labor I can am amazed at how much noise was going on around me and I had no idea!

As soon as i have a little more time on my hands I will be adding the birth video on my website if you would like to watch my hypnobirth. <My website is my full name with . com on the end. All the best with your beautiful labor.
